Polarized relays

 Polarized relays

These are used in control circuits with very low voltages or currents; the relay is extremely sensitive and

can respond to levels in the order of mA/mV.


This low level is often not suitable for the conventional springloaded armature device since (at very low pull-in/

drop-out voltages) the contacts would chatter, leading to spark erosion.


Polarized relays use magnetic forces to attract and repel the armature instead of a spring force. The armature is a permanent magnet, pivoted between two pole faces formed by the frame of high
