 The compass

It is a compass that allows you to measure the orientation of the plane in relation to magnetic north (magnetic heading).

It consists of a circular plate graduated from 0 to 360 °, associated with a magnet oriented on the axis

North-South. The assembly is placed on a pivot and bathed in a damping liquid which limits the oscillations.

Reading is carried out in ten degrees and certain particular directions are marked

by letters:

N for the North (360 °)

E for East (90 °)

S for the South (180 °)

W for the West (270 °)

It presents annoying inaccuracies when cornering, accelerating or decelerating.

To be used, it must be read in a straight line, at approximately constant speed.
